Senior Director, People Platform – Affirm

We are looking for a Senior Director, Platform to lead an exciting period of growth and expansion at Affirm! You lead and oversee a growing team that supports the foundation of our global, diverse workforce and helps scale the business as we advance our core values ​​and leverage data-driven insights.

This is a highly dynamic role that requires you to move quickly from your creative to an analytical brain while maintaining composure and accountability. You will develop strategies and implement programs that encourage, empower, connect and develop our employees. With the inevitable evolution of the future of work due to our current climate, as we scale you will act as a key decision maker and strategist for our remote first work model. As a builder and doer, you will move quickly and proactively work with stakeholders to ensure overall system efficiency and program effectiveness.

What you will do

  • Develop a deep understanding of the business – our key metrics, growth drivers and our 3 year strategy so you can develop and support this 3 year vision
  • Define and drive strategic goals and all aspects of platform function, including HR platform (HR systems, operations and reporting), talent platform (recruiting operations) and platform programs (global mobility, remote first work model and immigration)
  • Implement and iterate people systems and processes to support a workforce that will grow to over 1,000 worldwide by the next year
  • Serving as a strategic business partner for the Senior People Leadership Team and developing strong, proactive collaborative working relationships across the company
  • Be a key team building leader and human resource manager whom the team seeks to mentor on a range of personal and professional challenges
  • Establish scalable solutions that enable our people business partners to efficiently support their partner teams

What we are looking for

  • More than 12 years of experience in setting up and leading personnel operations with recent specific experience in the areas of personnel tools, systems, process efficiency and reporting
  • 6+ years management experience; a natural coach and mentor who connects well with others, listens, and can relate to a diverse workforce
  • Independent executive with experience in building up the people function in a rapidly growing company
  • Spurred on by feedback and encouraged the team to constantly test and iterate to success
  • Projects stability and trust in times of phenomenal challenges and times of immense change
  • Providing a data-driven approach to program creation from start to finish
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven track record in developing and executing human resource strategies that drive business results
  • Intellect and pragmatism to deal with ambiguity and manage change; a natural propensity for discretion
  • Effective communicator with the ability to provide both strategic foresight and feedback
  • Distinct service orientation with the aim of offering excellent employee experience
  • Up-level use of internal tools by maintaining our supplier relationships and at the same time providing new tools to improve our personnel processes
  • Experience in supporting tax-exempt and non-tax-exempt workers
  • In-depth knowledge of legal and labor law compliance matters relating to internal auditing and controls, employee-related guidelines and procedures, and SOC reports
  • Knowledge in dealing with Google Apps; UltiPro, Workday and Greenhouse helpful
  • Experience in public companies is an advantage

We are excited to announce that Affirm is now a remote first company! This role can be anywhere in the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec). Remote workers may occasionally travel to an Affirm office for meetings or team building events. Our offices in San Francisco, New York City, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Salt Lake City remain operational and available to everyone on a voluntary basis.
