Houston, Texas – As recession and unemployment loom, training new skills for workers is crucial, said the head of the Home Builders Institute (HBI), a provider of construction trades training and education , at the grand opening ceremony of its new facility in Houston.

“Economists now expect unemployment to rise over the next few months as the Federal Reserve continues to take steps to contain inflation,” HBI CEO Ed Brady said. “Now is the time to prepare with programs that will provide the underemployed or unemployed with the opportunity to develop new marketable skills.”

Located on Harwin Drive, BuildStrong Academy of Houston offers tuition-free programs accessible to anyone 18 years of age or older. No previous construction experience is necessary. Through participation in workshops, classroom courses, and online learning, students earn industry credentials, including OSHA-10 safety certification. They also receive career advice, job placement support and networking opportunities with top employers in the industry.
