Stockton, California, USA, September 30, 2022, King News Wire, A fight between Gabriel Flores Jr VS Giovannie “KingGio” Gonzalez, two of Northern California’s most marketable fighters, has garnered attention and attention for a possible showdown in early 2023. Both fighters have once trained at the same gym in the famed fighter town of Stockton, Calif., where rumors of intense sparring sessions circulated between the two fighters. A fight between two of Northern California’s most marketable professional boxers makes sense for both parties financially and competitively as well. Giovannie Gonzalez or as he is known as ‘KingGio’ has had a terrific run over the past 18 months since retiring for a short time after losing by split decision to Jose Luis Roa in a war of 10 rounds where many made Gonzalez win. 2020 Fight of the Year contender. Since that loss, Gonzalez has pretty much cleaned the house and hired a whole new team which has also resulted in him buying a boxing gym to train in Lodi, Calif. (KG Boxing Academy ) and adding Lynol Salas as the new head coach and promoting the longtime force. and conditioning trainer Richard Carrera to Co Trainer, Since that strategic move, Gonzalez has gone 5-0 knocking out 4 of his opponents and avenging his only draw against a once undefeated boxing prospect who is advised by the former world champion Eric Morales. Gonzalez masterfully took out Brandon Cortez for 8 rounds which led to a unanimous decision win and handed Cortez his first professional loss of his career, Cortez looked completely lost and confused and immediately showed success of Gonzalez and his new head coach Lynol Salas.
Gabriel Flores Jr has had a tough 12 months at 1-2 in his last 3 fights where many boxing fans think he should be 3-0 but most importantly the 2 losses he suffered were completely one sided. Flores Jr jumped to 135 and fought Giovannie Cabrera, a fighter who only has 7 KOs in 21 fights and is not known to be a knockout artist. Cabrrera completely dominated the once blossoming young prospect virtually from the first punch thrown in the fight that had Flores on his back 8 seconds into the first round. Giovannie Cabrrera easily took a unanimous decision while dropping Gabriel Flores Jr 4 more times and putting Flores in a unique situation. Gabriel Flores Jr was signed by Top Rank at the age of 16, who at the time was the youngest fighter to be signed by the boxing promotion company. They pushed him hard and picked every opponent carefully so he could look good like any other experienced promoter but they got to a point they had to put in a fighter who would pose some type of threat to honestly test their years of investment in Flores Jr. Unfortunately, Flores went 1-2 since his opposition in opponents came up which cost him his contract with Top Rank and he is now considered an agent free. Even though Flores Jr has those bad losses and is no longer promoted by one of the top boxing promotions in the world, he still holds some weight to his name, which brings us to Flores Jr Vs Gonzalez. Over the years many fans brought up this fight but were immediately dismissed by both sides as it was not a fight either side was interested in since they both trained in the same gym and, more importantly, fought in the same city. Stockton, CA, although Gonzalez was also raised near Lodi, CA and Flores Jr. moved to Las Vegas.
A fight between these two fighters would be the first superfight to take place in Stockton California and would sell out easily at the Stockton arena based on the fact that both fighters have huge followings, both are still young and in their prime . A fight against a tough veteran fighter like Gonzalez would be a risky fight for Flores Jr Coming back from tough losses he suffered, Flores has all the tools to beat Gonzalez with his shrewd style and long jab and assuming he gets tru Gonzalez would put Flores right back to where he left off before those losses. Gonzalez’s style is hard to read, sometimes you get a boxer and other times you get a stiff fighter who can take a tough fight but also has the tools to beat Flores despite the 10 year age gap , a victory for Gonzalez would attract the attention of many current world champions in his respective weight class.
A fight of this magnitude in Northern California would spark debates reminiscent of the 2007 Las Vegas superfight, Floyd Mayweather JR vs. Oscar De La hoya and easily trigger a universal question of “Who would win?”.
