Who doesn’t want to earn more money than before? However, for MS Dhoni, the dream has finally come true. He is among the highest paid players in the IPL, with a salary of Rs 137 crore. In 2021, he is expected to take another big step forward by breaking the 150 crore rupee mark in the history of the IPL.
Here is all the information about his current salary and the new salary:
MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020. Although he is no longer in international cricket, he still plays in the IPL of national cricket. He has been a member of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since its inception in 2008 to date.
During their two-year ban, he was out of CSK, where he played for Rising Pune, and returned after the ban. In 2012, MS Dhoni was ranked as the sixteenth most marketable athlete in the world by sportscore. In 2015, Forbes ranked him 23rd in the list of the world’s highest paid athletes.
In the very first auction, Dhoni was selected by CSK as the iconic player for six crores INR. This made him the most expensive player. In the first three years, Dhoni CSK’s salary was Rs 18 crore, which translates to Rs 6 crore per year.
The other reason why Dhoni’s IPL salary jumped to 8.28 crore per year after BBCI increased his retention fee. Dhoni’s IPL fees continued to rise as Indian captain, helping CSK, one of the most successful franchises, through 2019. In the 2017 IPL edition, Dhoni led Rising Pune Supergiant to finally.
In 2014 and 2015, Dhoni IPL’s salary was Rs 12.5 crore annually. Moreover, he received the same amount at the rising supergiant of Pune, where he earned 25 crore rupees during his two-year tenure there. In the 2018 IPL mega-auction, BBCI again increased the retention fee. Thus, the salary of Captain Dhoni CSK has increased to Rs 15 crore. Since his return to CSK, Dhoni’s salary has risen to Rs 45 crore.
Over the 13 seasons, Dhoni IPL’s salary is over INR 137 crore. Before the IPL 2021 calendar, there will be no mega-auctions. So, for this season, CSK withheld him and paid Dhoni INR 15 crore. Ms. Dhoni is the first player in IPL history to earn over Rs 15 crore. He made it into the history books after CSK extended his contract.
For this reason, he will be the first player to cross the INR 150 crore mark in IPL history. Note that the Rs 150 Crore only includes the salary. If you add other rewards, it would easily cross the 200 crore mark. Unfortunately, Dhoni will not add more crores to his tally as he will retire after the end of the IPL 2021 schedule.
Other players close to the Rs 150 crore mark are Virat Kohli of the Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Although Rohit earns Rs 2 crore more than Virat, he is the highest paid player in the IPL since its inception.
He has received 15 crore rupees each season from the Mumbai Indians since 20018. As a result, Rohit has earned over 146.6 crore rupees. On the other hand, Kohli has been making 17 crore rupees per season since 2018. As a result, he has pulled over 126 crore rupees which places him 3rd on the list of highest paid cricketers.
The 2021 Chennai IPL Super Kings captain won 3 IPL Cups for CSK. The seasons were in 2010, 2011 and 2018 respectively. In addition, he has scored 4,632 points in 204 Indian Premier League appearances, averaging 40 and over, including 23 in their fifties.
Fans are hopeful that ahead of the 2021 IPL schedule, he will help CSK claim this year’s title. It will be an honor as he hangs up his boots and returns home with another victory under his belt. He is also a co-owner of the Indian super league team Chennaiyin Football Club.
MS Dhoni is a legend in the world of cricket and sport. And is an icon to be admired for his discipline and his contribution to his career. Therefore, he deserves applause for all his awards and achievements, including breaking the Rs 150 crore mark.
