IMD classes have been dubbed the “Mighty 90s” for their talent and versatility. What was the best part of being in a small class with this group of classmates? You really get to know everyone, their experiences and how their viewpoints are shaped, so you basically have 103 “specialist” sources of advice if you need anything.

In addition to classmates, What part of IMD’s MBA program led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? Their focus on leadership and personal development – access to a leadership coach and a PDE analyst are definitely some of the highlights of the year. The leadership component is not just a set of generic theoretical courses. Instead, this stream is tied to personal development so that we can understand not only what type of leader we are naturally going to be, but also what we need to work on to be the type of leader we want to be. As someone who hopes to take on leadership positions in my career, I knew this would be invaluable in my personal leadership development.

IMD is known for its academic rigor. What strategy have you used to help a prospective IMD MBA better adapt to the workload early on? Come to IMD with an open mind but be aware of your priorities. Rigor means you can’t devote 100% of your time and energy to everything, so you need to know where to prioritize your time early on.

Describe your greatest achievement in your career so far: Seeing the real impact I’ve had (on company revenue and people development) in the span of 6 months at MMO – specifically, I’ve contributed to over 120% growth of the business line. We all have impostor syndrome at some point in our lives, and it was truly rewarding to see my real direct impact on the company and its employees, giving me the confidence boost I could take with me into the MBA program.

Describe your biggest achievement at IMD so far: I would say my biggest accomplishments so far are the personal development and awareness gains I have made with my leadership coach and my PDE analyst. I learned not only to recognize triggers, but also to understand the underlying reasons behind them, so I could better control my reactions instead of letting my emotions take over. In fact, I have already seen the improvements it has had on my personal relationships and I can see how it will make me a better leader and team member once back in the working world.

What is your favorite place in Lausanne? Why do you (and your classmates) gravitate there? Lake! In Lausanne, you have some wonderful natural sites on your doorstep, so we like to make the most of them every chance we get – whether it’s long walks along the shore, enjoying a drink accompanied by spectacular views or in the lake !

What led you to pursue an MBA at this point in your career? I felt a bit stuck and wanted to explore options that could accelerate my career. I had made steady progress, but felt like I was typecast into one area too early in my career. When I tried to pivot, I always found myself in conversations about sales roles, so I knew I needed a way to “reboot.”

What has been your best memory at IMD so far? Help organize and participate in the MBAT – the fact that IMD builds this into the schedule and funds most of our participation costs shows how much IMD cares about the overall experience of its students. For me, a trip like this where students and staff compete (and party) together, in addition to supporting each other, has created an almost unparalleled bonding experience. I really felt the team spirit of IMD and after the trip I felt even more like an integral part of the IMD community.
