Data Architect / Data Modeler – Lead – OneMain Financial


OneMain Financial’s Enterprise Data Services (EDS) team needs a Data Architect / Data Modeler – Lead who is able to capture business requirements through the design, development and management of staging, CORE data warehouse and business intelligence understand, develop and implement (BI) technologies. Day-to-day work includes working with OneMain Financial’s business, analytics, and business intelligence teams to generate architecture requirements, design data structures, and ensure that production data teams prioritize and deliver long-term stable architecture solutions. In addition, this role serves as a fundamental link between data sources and EDS teams working on the implementation of new or further development of existing solutions.

This role is critical to ensure that we build and deploy scalable, flexible and efficient back-end data structures to effectively support key reporting, monitoring and analysis solutions across the OMF team.

The Data Architect / Data Modeler – Lead will work with the Data Architect / Data Modeler – Manager and the Director of Architecture and Business Intelligence to develop, manage and update data models (physical and logical) and metadata definitions in appropriate domains: source systems , Staging, data marts and CORE DW.


  • Support in creating a robust, sustainable and scalable architecture that supports requirements and enables extensions

  • Work with end users, business analysts, technical architects, and developers to define the data requirements and structure for BI solutions

  • Design and implement data models for the data warehouse or data mart (data structure, storage and integration). Run the database analysis, design, and build efforts.

  • Work with the company to identify and understand requirements and source data systems

  • Design the data lineage and map source system data to data warehouse models

  • Make sure database designs meet requirements, including data volume, frequency, and long-term growth requirements

  • Work with other team members to ensure that all components are working together to achieve the goals and performance goals defined in the requirements

  • Makes recommendations for improving operational processes in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Analyzes highly complex system and technical problems in order to implement technologies that are aligned with the strategic technical direction.

  • Delivers artifacts, alternative technical documents, and architectural design that meet business needs; oversees design reviews and frameworks.

  • Encourage and maintain collaboration with business partners and technology teams to ensure goals and customer satisfaction are achieved


  • The position requires a bachelor’s degree with more than 5 years of experience in information technology or BI-related areas with increasing responsibility with SQL and data analysis / data modeling skills including a strong understanding of data sources, relational and dimensional modeling, effective use of business data (validity , Timeliness and benefits)

  • Ability to make critical architectural contributions, including assessment, suggestion and selection of appropriate design alternatives that meet the functional requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of SQL, including complex operations include

  • Experience with deep data analysis

  • Knowledge of formal database architecture and design

  • Has a strong talent / passion for creative problem solving when dealing with ambiguities

  • Strong project management skills with a high level of detail in data and a strong focus on adhering to results with time constraints – must have the ability to multitask and prioritize

  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills supported by excellent analytical, communicative and presentation skills

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple lines of business, functions, and regions, and to work in a fast-paced environment.
